Not a good day

Today has been a rough day. I really don't feel so good. My parents think that my cell counts have dropped today to the lowest the will drop, so I guess I just have to look forward to tomorrow where things will be on the up and up. I woke up this morning with more leg pain and a queasy stomach, but overall, I just feel achy. No fever though, which is really good. Any signs of fever or illness would send me right back to the doctor so we are really careful about that.

Pretty bummed today because I am missing out on my brothers basketball game (he's in the run for the city championship!) so I've been sending good vibes out to the Gesu Bulldogs today! I'm stuck at home because I don't feel good, and I'm still prone to infections. A crowded gym probably isn't the best place for me to be right now.

I actually haven't gotten out of bed today, still in my pjs watching tv. I watched the UCA Cheer and Dance National Championships on ESPN this morning and it made me miss my team very much. Shoutout to my beautiful Saintsations back at SLU, I miss and love you all! The teams were all incredible, but I am biased to my wonderful team :) This morning I was reminded of how lucky I am to be where I am. Although it's tough be home and I miss my old life, relaxing and focusing on family has been really nice. It's made me appreciate my family all the more and the great community that I am surrounded by.

To all my awesome friends, family, and blog-readers, please be thankful for all that you have. Be thankful for all the small things, because I am learning sometimes they are most important. And, Always remember to keep smiling! Much, much love.

Remember things can only go up from here. Keep staying strong. Somehow you always seem to put a smile on my face no matter what kind of mood I am in. You're making everyone here and at home so very proud.

  3. Hi Em,

Thinking of you today and always. Sarah just completed a 12-hour dance marathon at Ohio State to raise money for pediatric cancer at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus. Our family was there and kept you and your family in our thoughts all day. You had 2,000 Buckeyes dancing for YOU!! They raised over $450,000 :-)

You and your family are so special to me. Keep your heads up, Team Evans! It's going to be a rough road, but know that you've the support of ALL those who love you to lift you up and carry you through the hardest parts. Family isn't just who's related to you by blood, but all the people who support you when you need it the most. You have an incredible family thinking of you each day.

    Love to you all!

  4. Sure appreciate your emotional honesty, Emily. This is one of those days when the title of your blog comes in handy. Having a darker day makes the brighter ones so much more special. Brighter days are coming. Your spirit is intact - your body is responding as it's meant to. Keep your head up, beautiful Em.

    xoxo,
    Connie & Ali

  5. Some days are going to suck. I hate that for you. I confirmed with Jigar that you low cell count is the likely reason for you feeling so crappy, so in a twisted way, it's a good thing. You're keeping such a great spirit about all of this, Em - its perfectly okay to have some icky blah days. Try to focus on the love and prayers coming at you from around the world. xoxox

  6. Emily, I was down at Walsh on Friday night as Tommy has started baseball tryouts and I noticed all throughout the school were signs for cancer awareness week with the slogan, "NO ONE FIGHTS ALONE!" I thought of you and TeamEvans immediately. You have so many people cheering for you both at your home, in the community, at your college and throughout the world! Sending all good, positive and healthy thoughts to you! Hope you are feeling better as the day goes on.

  7. Ms. Emily,

I think a good dose of laughter might be just the ticket! After all, people have claimed it's the best medicine for years. Recommendations: I Love Lucy, Blazing Saddles, Airplane, Ace Ventura, Dumb and Dumber. You probably have your own list! Hope this helps! Remember...turn your face towards the sun; tomorrow is the start of a new day.

  11. Hello baby girl, so sorry to hear that today was not a good one. I know optimism sometimes sucks, but here it is anyways: tomorrow will be better.

Tim Feags used to tell me that you need to have a bad practice in order to have a good one. So maybe that's how it is for you too. You need to have a couple crappy days in order to make the good ones better.

And I couldn't help but read that you watched the competition today on ESPN. I didn't watch this one, but it reminded me of our old competition team and all the fun we used to have. We were so crazy, like those six hour practices your junior year, where it was only the twelve of us and we were so silly and obnoxious. Like having pizza parties at the gym and when Jayme hit Lindsay with an Ugg. Oh, or when you fell on the floor after you called Lizzie, "Jizzy Lizzie"? Or there was singing "Party in the USA" at the top of our lungs at States? I highly doubt you saw teams on ESPN having as much fun as we did.

I hope I could put a smile on your face and brighten your day just a bit. And I'm giving Kenz this card for you that I was supposed to give her forever ago, so ask her for it tomorrow. It'll keep you entertained for a day or so.

Okay, much love, and I'll talk to you soon. XoXxO,
    Anna Lip.

  13. Dear Emily,
I'm sitting here catching up on your blog after spending part of the weekend at the Gesu Moms' Retreat. Know that we prayed for you and your family all weekend and now you have a bunch more moms praying for you! These women are powerful prayers, let me tell you. In 1998, they prayed for me right before I had a mass removed that started at the base of my tongue and wrapped around my vocal chords and thyroid. The doctors told me that I wouldn't be able to sing after the surgery, which bothered me more than whether it was going to be cancerous or not. Several months later, I went to Rome with the Gesu Choirs and sang for the pope. I KNOW that this is because of the powerful prayers that surrounded me. Know that there is so much love and prayers going out to you and your family! Hope you are feeling better today. Give your mom a hug for me! Sue Devers

  14. Good morning Emily,
It is Monday and I hope you're feeling more energetic today.
It is a beautiful sunny day outside. Natalia and I were talking about you yesterday and we were thinking that spring is on its way and that will help you a lot; just think that in a few weeks you'll be able to rest in the back yard.
The Pozuelos are all thinking about you.
